Why Now?

12 Oct 2009

The United States and indeed the world are falling behind in advancing science. We as a nation and we as world citizens are deriving answers to questions and developing solutions to problems much slower than necessary. When the question “why now?” is raised, we should be saying, “why not years ago?” We see that given the opportunity, private citizens and philanthropically-motivated public organizations will rise to the occasion of helping to create a more sustainable world. All human beings derive enormous satisfaction from helping others. Even those of us that can only “give a little” can make a huge difference. Scientific research is a major catalyst that creates change. In our last U. S. presidential election, we saw clearly how ready the world is for change and we watched a grass roots level movement raise millions and millions of dollars to support that change. We see the same interested and involved people finding a fun and valuable way to contribute to society through FundMyResearch.org.

While it is hard to estimate something as fluid and potentially explosive as scientific research, we expect to be able to fund hundreds or indeed maybe thousands of projects being performed by undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students as well as studies and investigations being carried out by professors and other research experts. The types of research projects funded will be those that engage the imaginations and passions of the members of FundMyResearch.org. The return on these research investments will be immeasurable.

History has demonstrated time and time again that it only takes a small discovery to uncover very great scientific truths.
